Enrollment for the Seeds of Hope summer camp is open!

This summer camp is for children in grades K-8 who are/have been in foster care, have been adopted, or are considered at-risk. Camp is free of charge. Breakfast, lunch, and snacks are provided. Transportation assistance is provided in cases of documented hardship (parents specify need in the enrollment application).

The session hosted at Chestnut Grove Middle School will take place the week of June 8.

In addition to enrolling campers, Seeds of Hope is actively recruiting adult and youth (must have completed 9th grade or more) volunteer staff to serve in a variety of rolls. Volunteers are vetted and trained, encouraged, and mentored.

Our 7th Graders who met their Accelerated Reader point goals for Read Across America celebrated with a fieldtrip to the zoo today!

Students in Mr. Dillingham’s 6th Grade Science class experimented with the effects of mass and velocity of meteorites on impact craters on our Moon!

Mrs. McDowell's classes had a hands on lesson dissecting sheep eyeballs to learn more about the structure of eyes.

On February 27, the Northwest District NC All-District Honor Bands concluded their clinic with a concert in Brendle Recital Hall at Wake Forest University. Congratulations to Jonathan Rose, 1st Baritone Saxophone, for his hard work throughout the weekend and a fantastic concert. Jonathan had to audition against 17 different counties and be in the top two in order to earn a place in the band. There were roughly 1000 middle school students that auditioned in total!

Read Across America Spirit Week will take place next week!

We would like to extend a huge "THANK YOU" to Steve Goldberg for sharing Abe Piasek's Holocaust survival story. His presentation was enlightening, meaningful, and informative, which helped students put a face to information they have learned about the Holocaust in Social Studies, ELA, and Art classes.
